Finished fitting the 33mm smoothbores to my bike today. I had to make a new throttle drum & bracket, plus a cable because the original setup fouls the tank. Apart from this they seem to fit well.
I have jetted them to the spec. that Allens suggested. The bike will start & run on choke but stops as soon as the choke is closed. I tried screwing the pilot screws in all the way in (richer like Amals) & also out two or three turns to no avail. The slow jets are 038 size. Does anyone have any jetting info. for these on a Commando or even a Brit. twin?
Thanks,
Martyn.

I don't recall what I used years ago but I do know you will want to make sure you have a crossover tube on it before you spend a lot of time trying to get the bottom end right. Jim

The CNW manifold, tho pricey, is the ticket. It has better flow than the dual single Amal manifolds, has a built in balance tube, and it angles the carbs so that there is no interference with the linkage fittings and the fuel taps. It is also a beautiful work of art in and of itself.

It looks like the jets & needles recommended by Allens were bol+++ks. I had a chat with a friend of mine today who suggested I put the YY8 needles back in as a starter. And hey presto, the bike fired up. It still seemed very lean on pilot , so I replaced the 038 pilot jets with 068 & now it idles. I ran out of time today, but will attempt a test ride over the weekend. Next step, the rolling road!!
