Hobot asked:

so pray tell where you would use a power tool on a Commando

just last week I used my electric impact wrench to rattle off the clutch hub nut from its 70 lb torque

a month ago I used it to take off the countershaft sprocket and put a new one on, all cases of being unable to use a normal wrench due to being unable to secure to apply force otherwise

Air rattle guns and impact drivers work very well in experienced hands. When you know what they are capable of you respect them. As Jim has mentioned, he uses the rattle gun to remove things only. He doesn't use them to do things up.
I used a rattle gun all the time when changing wheels on cars. Because I knew what was going on, I could safely use that same tool to refit the wheel nuts. The number of non thinkers in tyre shops that over tightened wheel nuts however was frightening. Like experienced mechanics know when their torque wrench is working correctly just by the feel.

Yep,
I started as a line mechanic in 1970 and did that for 15 years. First with engines then specializing in auto transmissions. If you didn't know how to use an impact, including knowing when not to use it, then you didn't stand a chance of making a paycheck. The rattlewrench became your best friend. Jim
