Hi , I need your thoughts, I had fitted a Joe Hunt mag to my Norton, and while still having the alternator for lights (just headlamp and tail), I prefer not putting any battery , what is the general way : I have under my hand a boyer power box (with lighting delay !!!), or a podytronic (lookalike!), I imagine to run with the lights on all day , just to let the alternator " work" towards any consumer .....

The mag offers me a level of reliability that cannot be denied. Having a good battery, and charging system to match, to run everything else is an added level of reliability.

Being safe in this 21st century crazyness should be priorty rather than a pound or 2 of weight. If I want a lighter bike, then the think I really need to reduce what I see in the mirror.

Hi Pete, I totally agree with you, but due to a special oil tank , I have no more room for a battery , may be a shorai ( the small one could fit in the seat hump, but that will hard to fit and to care , due to that seat , and I prefer keep the shorai for my seeley.), so back to the first question, what is the best the power box or the podytronic......?

I run a battery elimnator on my bike with the Joe Hunt, I don't ride it much at night but the head light works and keeps me out of trouble if need to, I don't run my light duing the day, but for a better set up run a small dirt bike battery, you will find somewhere to mount it, it will keep your head light brighter than running no battery, I have a small tray under my seat (Featherbed frame) where I have all my electrics mounted and have enough room to fit a small battery from my dirt bike.
I love my Joe Hunt maggie one of the best improvement I ever put on my Norton, they are so reliable and easy to maintain, one kick to start every time and the bike goes so well through all the RPMs.

Forget the battery. I use the podtronic and a magneto. Your lights will be dim at idle but thats no big deal.

I use a 2.5 amp-hour gel cell to keep the lights bright at idle. A 2.5 AH is just a bit larger than a cigarette pack, and If necessary, the gel cell can be mounted in any position. I have padded mine to isolate it from vibration.

If you do not mind the lights dimming at idle, do as jseng suggests.
