Is Paul Lewis still alive ?

He ran Oxford Harley Davidson (my local) some years ago. A brilliant character, so much energy and enthusiasm. For everything !

He placed an open challenge in the motorcycle press here. A £10,000 winner takes all bet for one standing start lap of Mallory Park with him on some kind of Harley Tourer. The challenger could ride any bike but could not be an ACU licence holder. He received no challengers !

If folk said Harleys were slow he’d take them out on the pillion. Some came back frozen to the saddle !

I remember reading that challenge in one of the comics
I was sure someone would take him up on it!!!?
Kudos to him to offer it "when the flag drops"

I always found Paul to be a pleasant sort of person with no bullshit about him. Somehow I have the idea he was associated with Robbie Phillis in Europe in about 1993. I have the thought that they both rode the Cosworth Challenge at some time. Also Ken Blake rode a Commando for Peter Williams' main rival - can't think of his name. It seems strange. I would have thought they would be on two-strokes.

I think Lewis and Phillis were in Europe together, and Phillis also rode the Quantel. I just don't know why they would do that. Phillis was also mixed up with Muzzy Kawasaki. - I will ask Phillis about the Quantel and the Commonwealth Honda. . I sometimes see him.
The guy in the inset on the video below is Andrew Johnston. I think he died a while back. He was off the planet.
