Iron Mike Tyson

I always loved boxing and have done quite a bit in my earlier days. Always loved Iron Mike.

A lot underrate Mike, thinking he was just some kind of street slugger. he was simply amazing in his younger days. Check out clips of him training in the early days with Cus and Kevin Rooney. He’s like a machine, or some kind of giant insect in the way he moves, elusive, fast, powerful. He was a very intelligent fighter, tactical, skilful and very knowledgable in the art and the history of it.

My favorite Mike Tyson moment was when he bit Holyfield's ear. Shortly thereafter, I was at a NASCAR race at New Hampshire international Speedway, there was a crash and somebody's feelings were hurt. The driver got out of his wrecked car and had his helmet in hand, ready to slam it off the windshield of the person who had ticked him off when the driver came around again, slowly, caution light speeds. I stood up and began shouting, bite his ear! Bite his ear! The 20 people around me were howling…

That's awesome FE, where the hell did you get that? Since you seem like you're into boxing, here's a link to a dear friend of mine. He passed in 2010. Barry Taub. He was a boxing photographer and had taken a lot of photos before you and I were even born. Black and White no less. I guess click on the box that says "Photo flashbacks by Barry Taub"

My first wife worked at the White House for Nixon, then Ford, then for a short while Carter. Sometime in Ford's presidency (don't remember when), Muhammad Ali visited the White House and I briefly met him. The main thing I remember was him being nice and having huge hands. Most XL gloves are too small for me, but I felt little shaking his hand!

Of course, still at that time not everyone was a fan of his draft dodge in 1967, especially since he would never have been in harm's way and MANY young US men died in 1968 and 1969. The world turns and much later he was given many accolades by a bunch of then current and former presidents.

He was certainly a phenom to watch especially as Cassius Clay.
