Right now I'm running T100s on my 73 850 Interstate but will go to Avons next tire change. Wanted to run 100/90 rear and 90/90 front (I've got a new close fitting front fender I'd like to use) but wondered if the 90/90 is too small with an Interstate full of gas. Thanks for any thoughts.

You may have high speed handling problems lowering the front end. I did. I have a 100-90 on the front & it is fine.

I have run a 90/90 on the front and it quickens the steering, a light front end not a heavy one would be the issue and I have run an Interstate tank with it on, the interstate will allow a heavier passenger ;) .

I've been running an AM20 Roadrunner 90/90-19 front and AM26 Roadrider 100/90-19 rear. Just replaced with AM26 100/90-19 front and rear on my '72 roadster. The stearing is noticable different - has uneven lean transition where the 90/90 is smooth and quick, too quick for my liking. I'll get used to the 100/90 or it will wear in then expect it to be preferred as it's more stable. Hope this makes sense. Note the load ratings for the two sizes are quite different, so I'd use the larger with an Interstate.

441# vs 507#. I don't think a fully loaded Interstate would ever come close to 948#.

Over loading the front tyre?, do you guys ride sitting over the handle bars?,I'd be more worried about the AM26 on the undersized rear rim.

Splatt, what would you recommend for the rear with what front?

I think those tired are meant for big ass HDs. Tiny little Nortons won't have any affect on them.

I use a 90 90 front Avon with the early big tank Interstate and when touring a big tankbag as well, no problems only good feedback :D

I think your tyre selection is good,I run the 100/90 front and rear, only because at the time I couldn't find the 90/90. I think you will find the WM2 rim is to narrow and pinches the tyre profile, causing rapid centre wear on the tyre. Avon guide lines suggest a WM3--WM4.5, 2.15''--2.75''for the 100/90.
As for front end loading mines wearing the sides out faster than the centre, I'm on my 3rd rear and the front is only 1/2 worn, last rear tyre was fitted at christmas time, I had to fit a new one this week. So at present I'm trying to locate aWM4 rim to fit to the rear in the hope it may help.
If you ride your bike reasonably hard they will tranform the way it handles, if you only poodle around you may not like the way they feel a bit ''rolly'' at low speed.

Just realised, you are refering to the roadrider tyres???
