Interesting Motorcycle Vids

Bernhard, It depends on the circuit, however I've seen an RS125 Honda ride around a whole field of 600cc sports bikes on Winton Motor Raceway. Proves what ?
I suggest 'it is horses for courses'. A TZ250 is a great motorcycle when raced off a grid full of 250 and 350cc Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki two strokes. These days in Australian road racing, every grid is a mixed one with bikes of extremely different technologies. We get full grids, but the racing is rubbish. The guys might get a few laps and enjoy themselves, however the spectators might as well stop beside a freeway and watch the traffic for excitement. And it is the spectators who should be paying our bills, not rider entry fees.

Depends on which TZ250 we are talking about her, the old parallel twin on or the newer V-twin one that was still winning the 250GPs when that class was abolished.
A V twin tz250 was a winner in the UK in, amongst other races against all different sized bikes, the Champion of Brands clubman’s races, and would no doubt still do so.

On bike clip of Trevor Nation on a Norton Rotary at Donington Park at a classic track day.

Apologies if this was posted before, since I haven't seen all the posts on this thread.

There is no doubt the Rotary sounds unique, especially off throttle on corner entry.

It gets a bit better towards the final third, when there is less traffic. Nice lines and smooth riding, as you would expect from a former pro. He is treating it gently although he does want to get past the two stroke (TZR 250?) at about 2/3rds through the clip.

Proves that they are incredible race bikes, as are the V twin 250s.

Who really believes Norton published spec sheets?

Isle of Man JPN replica. Projected price: £65,000

http://vimeo.com/67797346#

I read in MCN that it will be powered by a modern Jap 600cc engine, (4 cylinder?) all for £65,000 :!: :(
At that price, that cuts me out.

Interesting. The spec sheet calls for a 748cc parallel twin with 33mm Amals and Norton isolastics.

This was an MCN interview with Peter Willams :!:
I’m only quoting what I read, nobody believes everything that they read in MCN, do they :?:

Only a couple of mc's in here, thank goodness

PW website has pictures of Commando motors and says that they will be built by Mick Hemmings.
Maybe the 4 cylinder Jap. motor is for the production bike that's intended to follow the JPN Replica...........
cheers

No kidding coldsouthernteaman. I had no idea enough of em survived to hold rallys size events. My surrounds are about identical to their hilly woods so can almost actually rationalize having one or more. Always wanted to tour the world in a restored German U boat too. WW2 cycle here

I remember a LONG time ago my dad taking me to some surplus yard where old stuff was being sold by the LB. There was a two man tank there, I cant remember what region or country it was but I remember it was a tank and it was tiny and you could buy it. I have vivd memories of the thing and if ever the chance comes I want to get one. I have tons of desert around to play in, and it would be so cool to roll around in one of those things ahhah

I was hunting for a shot of Floyd Clymer, publisher of CYCLE Magazine among other exploits, and came across this motley collection. Never get tired of history.
(Lucky I never had to deal with him when I wrote for CYCLE. He had left the building - probably with pockets bulging with proceeds from folks he'd cheated.)
