There’s two types of instability, front end oscillation, I.e. handlebar shake, and secondly a rear end weave. Test bikes on loan to U.S. bike magazines would occasionally show a tendency to weave when ridden hard, and after a lot of runs down a drag strip. After checking everything the cure was to replace the rear tire.

Front end is usually tyre as well. With a slightly worn front tyre, my bike handle bars shake at 30 mph with one hand on the bar. Perfectly smooth at higher speeds though and tyre is only 1/2 worn. TT100 410x19.

Other experienced riders in NZ have seen the same effect. Not a problem in this instance but time to chuck it on the rear.

I think I read somewhere the old honda 900 suffered with this
I think when they were doing the lemans 24hr the rear tyre was squaring off
And the bike needed frequent tyre change's to keep the bike under control for good lap times?
But I may have dreamt this?
