happy new year people !!

does anyone know if there is a physical difference between the early inner chaincase and late one , the early one has a spacer in the middle (033270) but later does not .
im tryinmg to fit my cases to the bike but there is a gap between the gearbox shaft sleeve and the inner chaincase
the parts book lists 033130 as the inner but on my bike i have( casting ref inside ) 025017 . the outer is listed as 033135 but i have ( casting ref inside) 033136 .
i have all the correct spacers for engine and gearbox in the correct place and of the correct size .
i believe there are shims required to pack out the clutch basket to line up with the front primary sprocket , would these pack out the gap ???

thanks in advance

another question please ...... what does the clutch basket butt up against ? it sits on the cluth shaft but that will spin at a different rate to the sprockt sleeve gear so it cannot butt up against that ? can it ?

thankyou
andy

Since no one has addressed this query, let me add what I know. According to the 1967 parts list, the inner cover (P/N 033130) and the early outer cover (P/N 033134) takes a spacer between the two halves (P/N 033140) measuring 3/4" x 1 1/2" x 3/8". The later parts list for 1968-69 shows an inner cover (P/N 033130), a different outer cover (P/N 033135) and a different spacer (P/N 033270) measuring 1/2" x 3/4" x 3/8".

What I don't understand is I have observed inner covers with longer bosses over the opening for the footpeg stud. However, there was only one part number (033130).

evening ron , thanks for the reply , i have now solved my problem , i misread some info relating to gearbox spacers and their position , now swopped them around and all is well , the chain cases i have are for the earlier p11 which have the inner separate spacer 033270 but that is only 1/2 inch thick not 3/8 the p11a (later ones) have the spacer cast into the case itself im lead to believe .

regards
andy

3/8 is the bore, not the thickness. The dimensions are from the "Stainless bits" spreadsheet. I assume they are 3/4 OD X 3/8 ID X 1/2 thick. The bigger spacer is 3/4 OD X 3/8 ID X 1 1/2. I cannot confirm these measurements, because the P11 on my stand doesn't have the primary installed yet. It did not have a primary assembly when I bought it. I haven't removed the primary on my Ranger, I have enough parts floating around and don't want to get any mixed up.

hi ron , yes those dimensions are correct 3/4 od 3/8 id and 1/2 long not sure which bigger spacer you are referring to , or do you mean the stud spacer from eng plate to inner chaincase ?
on a different note which wiring diagram are people using ? is there a specific one for the p11a or is it an atlas one ?????
cheers
andy

From the 1967 P11 Parts List

inner chaincase ??

According to the spreadsheet from "Stainless Bits" this spacer is 3/4 OD X 3/8 ID X 1 1/2 long. Perhaps this was used on the very early models with a G15/N15 inner primary casting and the casting was changed on later models to enlarge the boss where the footpeg stud opening is located, necessitating a shorter spacer?
