Just spotted 3M Dual Lock on INOA Norton messages: it does the same sorts of things as velcro, only stronger, and with very good adhesive backing. (It is available in the UK) It has interlocking plastic pins on both mating surfaces.
One person used it as part of a battery restraining system.

I've used DualLok for over a decade (on sailboats mostly). Really quite good...can be had in clear(-ish) or black. I have it under my Commando battery to help hold it down to tray.

I started using it in giant scale R/C aircraft to hold battery packs, ignition modules and other critical components that were often subjected to positive, lateral and even negative "G" forces.

I used wife strips of Velcro to mount the battery in my ‘72 close to 20 yrs ago , worked great and never failed , far as I know it still anchoring battery today ….
