bought the new lucas switch and keys but can't get the d@#% tumbler to go all the way in and stay.It will turn but then comes out in any position. What am I missing or is the switch bad????

Is it a genuine Lucas item? If its a repro by Sparx, it is shite. The locating pin doesn't locate coz the kid in India who made it can't afford to get glasses see where to line it up. Try an Emgo one, they seem to be OK.

What ml said. Mine was the same. You can use a dremel to open up the receiving hole for the detent if you don't want to send it back. Unbelievable they could screw that up

I bought a $15 Harley three-position switch, the kind with the "round" cross section key. Works a treat. The bracket to hold it to the battery tray, from Norvil, was more expensive but the set up is very nice and I don't regret any of it.

Damn! Old Britts has the BEST tech/info articles. I've got a nice repro Harley switch if you want to go that route (but I'd stick to original).

Thanks guys . I am going to mess with it this weekend. I been playing with one of my british cars the past couple of days a 74 jensen interceptor .

I have a NOS Lucas complete with key laying around if you're interested.
