Hi,

I am trying to adjust Amals 932 on my Combat Commando. I did everything acc. Bushman's carb tuning, but on my bike it works only with choke.. When I try to pull up the choke sliders during idle, it immediately cutting out..

When the choke slides are down, idle is good. When I'm holding the engine on higher rpms by twist grip without choke, it running well. Yesterday I ran the bike few km (to be sure that engine is warm enough), everytime when I stop on lights - I had to turn on the choke!

I tryed to adjust air screws again, but it causes misfires (screw out) or not running (screw in). Adjusting throttle sliders had no influence..

I am wondering if KN filter or reed valve (from Yamaha XS650) could have influence...

Do anybody has experience with same/similar problem? Or I am doing something wrong?

Thanks for any advice..

It does sound like some restriction in the idle circuit, has the bike been standing for a while? Maybe muck from the tank,

Dave.

Classic symptoms of clogged idle circuit. Clean and VERIFY FLOW prior to re-assembly.

Definitely sounds like clogged pilot jets. Mine did the same thing.
Just curious, where did you put a reed valve?

Yes, the bike stood for few years, few days ago I cleaned both carburetors, so it was hard to believe for me that they are clogged again... but yes, it make sense. And I should clean the fuel tank as well.. :(

About reed valve - I removed all inner parts from original breather and install read valve 100mm behind. No more oil leaks, perfect solution from this forum

Thanks for your replies!

If the idle ports are clean, squirting cleaner into one of the 3 outlets/inlets and getting cleaner coming out the other 2 will confirm all ports are clear. Squirt in each one, Air Intake for pilot, removed pilot screw port, and pilot mixing chamber port in the bowl area and make sure it comes out the other two. Your problem is classic.
