If I get a MKIII timing cover can I get rid of this and anything that may function accordingly?

I'd rather not say. MKIII experience a plus

MkIII covers are not 100% guaranteed not to wetsump. You take your chances...

I think we all know what I mean, You didn't have to say the word, did ya?. Crimeny, what have you done! Edit that thing out of there before hobot see's it.

If the Mk111 anti-drain plunger doesn't stick open then it does help. At least it can't stick closed. Make sure that it's a good loose fit in the cover.

Mk 111 oil pumps have a larger backing stub flange to support the broader larger rubber. The flange can sometimes be removed and swapped over from an old pump. I believe that current production is all of the Mk111 type but an original pump may not support the conical rubber properly.

Too late for hobot, already committed to one just like it on Ms Peel, so save it for her as a spare please. Aluminum versions are pricey and don't match the tractor hydraulic tube threads. I'd not have any thing like that warty bodge on my factory Combat either though - so in complete agreement with everyone here, yuk.
