My '71 has knurled knobs, well-aged and fixed with pins so I'd conclude that yes, your knurled knob is original.

There are AT LEAST 3 patterns out there, maybe 4.

I'd order a pair and keep the other as a spare.

Be sure to PROPERLY install the keeper pin, that's an age-old problem on pre-owned / older bikes.
