Hi all looking at the posts here for a while and thought I would say Hi
My Norton commando its an 850 roadster had its first ride yesterday and all went well will get some photos up in next day or so
frame and engine number are 312774 and plate says its 7 month 1973 does this sound correct

Welcome to the forum, kanaka

"312774" sounds a bit of a high serial number for the 7/73 production period, a~~s supposedly the factory was only up to around serial 302000 at that time, and 307311 by December '73~~, ~~however the batches of serial numbers sometimes ran out of sequence,~~ but the factory records for 312774 probably no longer exist, so it could prove difficult to check?

Mine is a 3030xx and is stamped 04-73. I'm sure there was some reasoning behind out-of-sequence numbering, but I don't have a clue as to what it is.
