Hi All

My Norton was parked at work the other day, where it always is parked it was on the side stand, the wind was blowing so hard that it picked the bike up and pushed it to the right side and fell to the ground, I wasn't at work at the time and my work mate phoned me up to tell me what had happened, they were near by and herd the crash when it hit the ground, what got damaged, taco glass broken ( was rebuilt 18 months ago ) the bezel bent, cup holder for the taco snapped off at the fork mount and a hole in my foot peg rubber (needed new ones anyway) as for the Joe Hunt Maggie, well it didn't even get a mark on it and a few scraches on the tank where the S/S braided brake line hit the tank, what can I do it was just a freak of nature.

I am going to put the taco away till I get it fixed, I have already made a alloy mount to replace the cup holder and going to mount my new Smiths oil pressure gauge in its place, I don't even lool at my taco I know what revs my motor is doing by sound, have owned it for 36 years now, I have my orginal speedo put away and running a Smith speedo off a Triumph, it was given to me and was new has only 3,000 miles on it now.

Ugh, can't protect against whims of nature. I've had mine fall over after testing- waiting to make sure ground was hard enough, walked away 20 steps to hear, Clunk/clang. Nothing injured that time but grip end. I was gritting teeth 1st on this post it wasn't a backed over story.

Yes I have had my bikes fall over because of a unsettled side stands, but this wind was so strong it lifted the bike from the left side and pushed it over the balance and fell on the right side, I know my Norton is a lot lighter than the Commando, but having the wind push it from oneside to the other is something else.

Another on this fall over not your fault event - had my SV650 sitting a long time on its only stand, a side stand, after her Big Dog take down @ 12 mph, air slowly leaked out its tubeless tires to cause it to sit lower til felll over on other side of stand, but landed on same R side as dog damage so hardly noticed.

We don't need these little $uprises.
Are you sure the boys at work didn't take her out for a quick spin Ash.

Hi Ian

None of them would know how to ride a real motorcycle
