I voted twice;). Annually or 2,000 miles if earlier. The 12 months starts again from that point. I use the bike occasionally in winter, on good days, so I'm not concerned about over-wintering with unused oil.

After every thrashing. I want to see how much big end shell material I've worn off the bearings. Oil and filter changed in less than 1000 miles.

I don't use any oil listed in the Comnoz oil database, or motorcycle specific oil.

Anyone here run semi or full synthetic in their commandos?
Yes I run the 20-50 Royal Purple in my modern Triumph 2004, it gets most of the miles and change it every season, and that would be 3,000 +- miles or so. Almost all my riding is in the mountains here with very little stop and go. On the Norton I plan to go with the Castrol GTX Classic now that they brought it back, I use to put that in everything.

No! Dinosaur motorcycles need to run on dinosaur gas and be lubed by dinosaur oil! :D Sorry everyone, I don't want to participate in yet another oil thread, but this was too funny (to me) to resist.

'Anyone here run semi or full synthetic in their commandos?"

Been using it in my '73 Commando since I bought it in '06. Also use it in my '76 Honda CB400F as well as well as in our five newer bikes that were actually produced in this century! :)

And we're off. Might as well go full-blown oil thread.

Let's cover motorcycles from the 1894 to 2024, all manufacturers; and all engines, gearboxes, primaries, forks, swingarms, speedo drives, bearings, etc.

What difference does it make that this is a thread on when do you change oil and filter (filter implies engine oil) and it's in the Commando forum implying that it means vintage Commando?

OK, I'm often guilty too.
