History of Master Cylinder lock ups.

I just had a thought. There is no need to run close tolerances inside a master cylinder as the rubber seals do the work. Most seals are tapered, and the smaller diameter is smaller than the bore size. The piston can be a sloppy fit. Mine definitely is, and I cant remember any car master cylinder I ever worked on that had a close fitting piston.

In regards to using Dot 5 fluid, I am installing a new Brembo MC from CNW (thanks Matt ) with new lines all the way to the caliper. Matt strongly recommend using Dot 5 & I want to do so, My caliper is working fine so can I just flush a whole bottle of Dot 5 through it with the new MC and be safe or does it really need to be taken apart and cleaned prior to using Dot 5??? Thanks.

There are a lot of nooks and crannies in the caliper that do not drain or flush well. You may get away with a flush, but I took mine apart and put new pistons and seals while in there. Works a treat.
