I have a trials bike again! I found after selling the Bultaco that I missed having one, so I started looking for a replacement. Bultacos are scarcer than hen's teeth around here, so no joy. But I found something almost as rare and brought it home last week:

Hey swoosh, check this out!

1975 Suzuki RL250. Not a trailer queen by any means, but it's a good rider quality bike, all original and never restored. Seems to run pretty good. Trials season is over now, but I've got all winter to mess around with it and get it set up. I'm a huge Suzuki fan so I'm very pleased to have found this one.

A Suzi, eh? Well, it might be more nimble than the M49.

The RLs are harder to find than most trials bikes. I'm surprised you couldn't find a TY250.

I might be taking a hiatus from trials next year. We are talking about doing the CO/WY trials the year after.

I did see a couple of TY250s that looked good, but they sold before I could go look at them. I'd rather ride a Suzuki anyway. :)

Casper is always on Labor Day weekend, and Milliken is usually a couple of weeks later. If you could stay for a while you could do both. There's usually an event at Cotopaxi in late August too. All are great venues. Tell the boss you need a month off! :D

I think we calculated it out as 2 weeks for 4 trials. Plus travel.

Debby,

I just saw one of these at a little vintage meet and greet here in NC. Same bike, same year. It has been in a crate for 35 years. It was taken out and ridden for about 500 feet and it has not been ridden since. A sin. It is absolutely beautiful, but a waste, IMO.

It's not hard to see lightly used Suzi trials bikes, one ride and most of the owners would park them.

Well, I guess trials isn't for everyone.

I like the bike. Very tractable, steering not as quick as the Yamahas (for me that's a good thing), nice strong-running motor. Needs fork seals and proper trials tires. PO put Kenda 270's on it, which will not do for trials work. Price was right, too. And no shipping, just a quick trip down to Colorado Springs to collect it.

I bought my Fantic from one of those guys - his first ride he cracked a rib, then his brother tried it and broke an arm, then they never rode it again. Taught my son to ride on it with no breakages :)
