Here is how I replace the rotted out connector on my Commando.

This was my temporary fix to get the bike going.

And in place. It's a good solid connection and it only cost $3.

I have used crimp connectors on all my wiring jobs with no problems at all, but you do need to use proper rachet crimming tool for best results, using a cheap crimper you might have some problems.

Yes did the same ages ago. One for each handlebar switch units and one large and one small for the rest of the wiring.

Is that solder we see over the crimped connectors. ?
Be aware that vibration may cause the solder to crack and break and lose continuity, long term ??

If the wires are well supported or tie wrapped to frame to prevent flexing or vibration then soldering if done correctly should not be a problem. The well known Boyer problem is due to the vibration of the engine an the wire but as these are on the frame it should be fine. I wrap all the connections of the wiring in self vulcanising tape as years of competition off roading have proved to me if you kepp the water dirt and air out then you will have little or no trouble even with these style of bullet connections.
