Look at the right iso, it's skewed towards the rear on the cradle side.

Mine look like that, infact, most that I have seen look like that. I am supprised that you did not do the rear first, after removing the front mount. I did it that way and I was glad I had the movement of the engine available to work. Glad it worked out for you.

Dave, in my opinion having owned one, the Dave Taylor Head Steady is the cheapest rod linkage type.

And it worked very well for me, stops the head/motor from moving side to side much better than stock.

I didn't want to take everything apart, because I'm only working off the centre stand and a floor jack. If I took both isos out, it would probably fall apart. Anyhow, it worked.

If you make it yourself it can cost in the neighborhood of $25.

I've seen your head steady, SD. I don't care for the way the DT mounts on the tube. I do like the CNW one but that one is getting past me. I'll have to break down and make one.

The plastic tips on the set screws didn't stay put very long on mine. I wound up tapping for the next size up and ground the ends of the screws flat, used two per adjuster, and didn't tighten them very much.
The stainless they used is pretty soft, one of mine welded itself together, use antiseize. For all of that, I still like them much more than the MkIII's.

When I got my Dave Taylor headstedy I thought the aluminum pedestal on the head-mount was was surely going to break off and the collar was going to rotate on the frame. Neither happened. I don't think the loads are that high. I did wear out the Heim joints after 5000mi though. When I replace them I'll get a set of these seals and maybe fill them with grease once in a while.
