The wires on my stator have just fallen away . In the back of the workshop I have found a stator that I believe came from a mkII 850 but it has different wiring - it has a thin red and a thicker blue wire. There are no manufacturer marks on the stator. Any ideas how this stator could be connected? (Connected to 750 on standard/ original loom & electrical components)

If no feed back I'll pass inquiry along to other lists that might have a clue. Oh yeah might call Brit Iron vendors as never know what they know over decades of world wide mix and match fixes. That where a lot of my background comes from so still ambivalent on some them getting to answering with " Oh Hi there Easy Money..."

Start digging away with short knife at the encapsulation material where the wires fell off from flexing and age. Wear leather gloves and practice your swearings. Then solder new wires in place. Then fill the hole up again with glue. Good luck.

Thats what I did with mine and has been working for over 4 years now without any problems.

Last "re solder" just on the surface of the bonding - I'll start digging. As a means of prevention I've set wires on the new stator in an inch of hot glue along the stator body. In the meantime I think I've convinced myself that as the stator is AC the two wires must carry alternating current and can therefore be connected to either of the two cables running to the rectifier. Only one way to find out if this us true!

Stator makes alternating current out of those 2 wires so it's irrelevant how they connect up. What kind of glue ? hot glue- gun -glue may fall away ,there may be better glues to use, say silicone .
