I think if you remove the rear isolastic bolt and jack up the engine from the gearbox plates, you should get enough clearance. May have to undo the head steady, but maybe not.
 
Also you could remove part of the bolt head to go past the frame (grind or file back one flat bigger) you will still be able to get a spanner on the remaining flats and nobody will ever look under there until the next engine out..
Also if the bike was ever stolen and recovered it would be easy to identify..:oops:

Thanks gents, it is a bummer and I’m not happy :( . I’ll soon be heading to shed to see what can be done
armed with all your advice..........................o_O God only knows what’s going to happen then! I will report back!
 
Other option is an allen bolt, the head is typically smaller than a bolt of the same size plus you can turn some of the head off and still have a working internal hex, a washer will spread the load of a smaller head. Down side is it will not look standard.
