A friend in Niagara Falls Ontario has a 58 Triumph T110 that came out of a museum and needs someone in the area to help him set the mag timing and get the bike running. If you can help or suggest someone in the area please contact me and I will pass on the information. Thanks Robin at: rmullett@shaw.ca

I have a good, clean scan of a Lucas mag timing sheet, but it's for a Norton. The only thing different should be the actual spec for degrees BTDC for the Triumph.

e-mail me if you're interested and I'll send it along. grandpaulz@hotmail.com

For what it's worth, I was able to get the Norton SPOT ON with the simple "stick in the plug hole and cigarrette paper in the points" method, as checked by a degree wheel mounted on the crank.

The same method worked for me with a Hunt mag on the '53 T-Bird chopper I built a couple of years ago.

Unless the mag has been removed for any reason, is there any real need to do anything other than clean the points and check whether its sparking or not?

Manuel or Auto advance ?

ordinarilly 3/8 btdc , tho 9 mm's ok . 38 deg .

if theres a round circle  by the engine No its the .010 clearance ' ramp ' cams .

Keep a bucket of water handy , or fire Extinguisher .

not sure about people in your area - perhaps a posting on brit bike forum (http://www.britbike.com) in the triumph forum may be more useful

the service manual has all the information need - its quite easy with a few minimal tools (having a 62 T110)

the stick down the hole and cigarette paper is really the po-dunk method, but can work to at least get it started/running -
