Hi Lads,
Just joined the forum thanks to L.A.B. and Jerry :D

I dont have a Commando but have admired them and in fact tried to buy one when I was an apprentice but Bank refused me a Loan.

I have aquired a "Gus Kuhn" 850 engine which appears to be a race engine I will be selling it as I dont have any Norton bikes but hopefully will someday.

So this is just to say hello and if you recoginse my user name well you know me from BSA & Triumph triples

So hello and keep right side up or if not in UK keep left side up :D

cheers

Banks used to do that years ago. I remember trying to persuade my bank manager that the world would be a much better place if I had a (used) Ducati 860GT; GT that is, not even a 900SS. For some reason he couldn't see the logic. It obviously had something to do with Margaret Thatcher's economic planning.

Cheers! ~ Gary

Welcome. How about the antipodians? Do they keep it upright or downright or leftright, oh crap, I've lost my train of thought.

Hi Monty

Wondered when you would turn up here :D

Have you cleaned that engine up yet?

all the best Chris

Hi Bigbossmonty, Welcome over here.
That U.S. T160 tank you sold me still looks beautiful on my bike Triumph (since I had it painted).
I hope that it is on your "to do before I die" list.....to own a whole Commando, they are a great bike. I wouldn't want you to miss out

Oh, you'll find a bike and then you will wish you had held on to that engine! Just start shopping on Ebay and buying Commando parts...next thing you know it will be less work to put a bike together than to get rid of all that stuff.

Hi BBM and welcome to the site. I presume you are no longer an apprentice? so by now you will be filthy rich on a tradesman's wage, so go buy a Norton and stuff the banks! :D

Sure do ! ~ :D

Giday BBM ~ I use the name handle all round too ~

It is a very interesting marriage when one has a Triple and Commando side by side in the garage ~ Two whole different Universes but both are a Hell of a good time to ride as Classics go ~

A Gus Kuhn would be a real coup if you can sew it all together as a complete bike and better still ~ Worth better Bucks as a bonus ! 8)

Welcome BBM,
If you want to sell that motor I'll be interested.

Cash

Cash get in line :D
Hopefully a few photos of the engine will appear here soon!

Chris

Oh yes, best deal is only buy the parts you need already in good shape and bargains to save the tear down and reprocessing or trashing of bad parts. You've got the single most expensive important component on hand already. Which gets more riding or the more delightful riding, the Commando or the Triple-umph?

Yes ~ Oh how true it is!

When I decided to build a Special (Trident) I now have tiny workshop still bulging with excess and mostly very unwanted parts!!

I wish the Pickers would turn up on my door ~ :D

I gave away 2 boxes of Mikuni carb parts, and there is still another ( Mikuni ) carb box lurking in there amongst a mirid of other .. bike bits still though.. !!

Hi, just to answer the antipodean question, we try to keep it RUBBER side down.

hello Big Boss,

Yes I had a T150 and the Triples site is a beauty, just like this one. Now I did have the triple and Nort together for 6-months or so, wish I still had the triple, they make great garage mates.
But you must get a complete commando or make that engine into a bike, hehe

Cheers Richard

PS is kilroy still there?
