Hello from Norton UK

I’m calling this bullshit.

“Said that they hadn’t compared it to an old one”.

If they didn’t compare old vs new, how did they come up with the idea of what to change in those 36% of parts?
That is they hadn't compared the noise levels. So they say.

They had 'old' bikes on site, including mine, which had covered a few miles plus a list of known faults from us owners plus the results of independent track and road tests. Each of those faults was allocated to an engineer to investigate.

Are they now Brummie Nortons!!

Just googled this :) {
'What do you call people born in Solihull?

People born in Solihull are refered to as 'Silhillians'. Get the Solihull mug. Solihull is a town in the West Midlands, defined as one of the most prosperous areas of the English midlands. Even though it is near Birmingham, residents of Solihull refuse to accept any link whatsoever to Birmingham.'

Worked in Tamworth once, nearly as parochial as the North East.
What’s it to be then?

This is true
I mistakenly thought a bloke from Solihull was a Brummie
He didn't take too kindly to that
I wish Norton all the success
But it is a new company
They do not have to supply parts for the garner Nortons if they don't want too
They can do whatever they like

So it’s like the who song? Solihull down to Brighton?

If they are ditching the old parts and bringing in new surely the best way to discriminate is to up the capacity so it's not a 961 any more?

On second thoughts they don't even need to do that - ref the exciting all-new Ducati Supersport 950. Totally different to the previous Supersport S (known as the 937) which is the engine from the Hypermotard 939 and Multistrada 950. Got that?

If and when I need assistance with spares from Norton and they don't assist me directly or through Motorvated etc, there won't be any chance I would ever buy a bike from them. I would imagine many would feel like this. I thought we had some positive noises coming out of the factory on this side of things via John was it. Or is that all off now.

checking in recently with what the dealio, apparently diddly

here's the 1st post, any news with this bit? ...from Simon Marshall

This is long ago , not sure if this Simon is still there ?

No, Simon is no longer with Norton. I do speak to him from time to time though.

Hi everyone,
Just a quick post to introduce myself, and help explain my intentions here on Access Norton.

My name is Simon Marshall and I am one, of the small team, of Design Engineers here at the Norton Factory at Donington Hall, UK. I’ve been with the company since early 2012. There is a lot of positivity about the brand and the bikes here on the forum, which is great to see, but there is also some miss-information floating around. My intention here is to give an official factory response to some of the threads on the forum and help make sure the correct info is available to those who need it / want to listen to it.

Just a heads up however, I’m only able to help out with 961 Commando and Dominator models that have been built here at the UK factory since 2010, so please don’t ask me anything about sourcing parts for your 1955 Norton, I wouldn't even know where to start ! :D
Hi Simon, Good to see the factory is interested! I have a new 961 on order and wish to have black forks as on the specials shown at the show, this I am told is not possible! Why? There seems little flexibility as to spec, two colours, that's it, there is small volume involved, it's not a big production line, There seems no interest in being accommodating from a customers perspective. I look forward to your comments. Regards

Very unlikely. When I last spoke to him, he was freelancing, building motorsport wiring harnesses

Hi Simon, fantastic but I send 10 Days ago an email to Norton Factory to have a quote for différent parts…no answer! I understand that customer and owner service was a priority… not really. I always wait. Regards
