Hi
I have been watching from the shadows for a while enjoying and benefiting from the experience shared this forum , I thought I might like to join in, so here is a little about me and my Norton.
These days for my day job I design anti-skimming equipment for cash machines. Back in the 70's through to the 90's I earned my daily bread as a bike mechanic for various dealers and factory motocross teams at world championship level, also had some involvement with road racing and classic bikes and car restoration.
The day job may have changed in 98 but I still love motorcycling and motorcycles. I have a few bikes and a well equipped workshop.
Last November I bought a scruffy 75 850mk3, that originally shipped out from the factory to Canada made its way to Minnesota and then back to the UK and me.

Hello from me and the Silver Interstate of Love

As you can see time had not gone easy on the poor old thing, though it actually looks better in photos than it did in the flesh

So time for a little TLC.
I have like most of you put in a lot of hours and a fair amount of cash ( now on first name terms with the guys at "Handover Norton") to bring the bike to a rideable condition, I will post some photos of progress soon.

Looking forward to the summer

Welcome Esmerela
"Handover Norton"
Like it a lot but you do know the nickname for the Interstate don't you?
Good luck with the bike.
Andy

Okay guilty of a bit of a tease.

The answer is/was back in the day "In-a-state" :D

Andy

That's the first time I have seen a Commando with Domi. mudguards. If they are in good enough condition to re chrome then they should fetch a few hundred quid to help with the rebuild. I can see the blokes at Handover rubbing their hands already!
Martyn.

A mk3 back in the day was an "electric tart" so you have an "in a state electric tart" good luck with it lots of help available on this site along with info on getting your tarter working properly cheers

Thanks for the warm welcome.
The Interstate was defiantly in a state , Dominator mudguards were obviously part of the Hog style make over  . A few photos of some of the parts I have been making/ modifying on my Clarke CL500 lathe /milling machine.

Hi Esme,
Welcome.
I've a CL500 combi and I see your milling head took a big jump at some time too. I've had it for 17 years and it has paid for it's self 10 times over.
Looks like you're doing a good job on the Interstate, if you build it right it will repay you with performance and reliability.

Dave

Looks like a solid bike. Can't wait to see more pictures of the progress. And if you are short on funds, I bet you know how to skim the anti skimming equiptment
