Headsteady Spring

Hi all,
I have looked through the posts on the fitment of the headsteady spring, I may have missed it when my eyes started going bleary, but can anyone give me the definitive answer ........... do you fit and adjust the headsteady stirrup spring with the bike on or off the centre stand?

Off initially, for minor tweaks it don't matter.
