Headlight ears rattling

Hey guys, I'm finally up and riding my 66 Atlas 750 again. Well, for the most part. The motor runs great, but needs a little tweaking, and I'm going to have to replace the clutch and springs after this season, but all in all I'm glad to have my knees in the breeze. The problem I've run into is now that I'm riding my right side headlight ear is rattling like crazy. I'm assuming that it's missing some type of grommet or bushing or something, but I don't know what it is. Can anyone point me in the right direction? If there's a quick fix for this, I'm all ears . Thanks in advance!

I had seen that in other posts, 3 on each side if I'm not mistaken. I'll have to look into it. The rattle is enough to make me cringe when I ride it.

If my memory serves me correct there is a rubber O ring at the top of the ear with a slot all the way round.
The bottom usually fits snugly on the fork yolk.

The bottom is the more loose of the two. I'll have to look closer when I get back to the house at the other side. It seems like it wants something (like an o-ring) to space it out and keep it snug.

The bottom fork cover is in place, yes. The headlight ear mount sits just above it and is loose. Now, if there is a method of fitting the two together to keep this from happening, I'm at a loss.

There should be a lip on the bottom of the ears that fit into a slot of the bottom cover, but I am quoting from memory.

I'll have to look. I can see it being possible that there is a missing o-ring or bushing at the top that should hold it down into the lower fork cover.

It is not strictly speaking an O ring, but a kind of rubber grommet ring that retains the top cover/ear. (underneath the top yolk)

You don't happen to know what it's called or have any idea where I can find it? My searches have turned up little in the way of parts for the headlight mounts.

Not without a long seach on the internet, but a Norton dealer who supplies parts for the older bikes might help.

If it is too big to see, look here http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa4/ ... 2542e8.jpg

It is #33 "Main tube top cover ring" and from a parts catalog I have, part number T.597
