I would get a MikesXS reed valve instead - the poor mans option to a nice Comnoz sump or crankcase reed valve breather. Better option at a negligible price difference than an Autozone, IMHO.

yes I agree, Im going to order one, but for my ride this weekend Im buying the cheap one

Thanks :D

Put up a pic of the brake booster valve you use, MS, or just send it to me when you get the better one. I don't have any leaks (yet), but an ounce of prevention.....

The check valve many use is the Dorman/Help 80190, can be found on the Help rack at chain auto parts stores, looks like this...

:D
I installed the Dorman check valve and a silicone intake gasket (exhaust gskt replaced earlier) and went to Pacos Tacos Bike nite Grass Valley, Ca., a 100 mile round trip.
I sprayed power all over the engine and there was no sign of oil leaks.
So again, thanks for all the help.

Could the valve be installed at the oil tank end of the breather hose? It's kinda igly. I don't have any leaks at present, but I wouldn't mind precluding future leaks.

The farther away from the timing chest the valve is located, the faster it will plug up with goop from water/oil mixture. Jim

Does any one have any pics of the location where you put the check valve, either Mikes or the brake booster check valve. The cheap one is now on my bike, I have Mikes that I will eventually install but not sure of the location.

What did you use to sleeve up the outlet to fit inside the larger breather hose?

Basically, just enough of the original-sized hose to butt the valve to the outlet tube on the back of the timing chest, then the smaller line up to the tank. It tucks in really nicely.

Got it on there. Looks like I have stock in the hose clamp company. It's really crowded in the center, what with the conical air filters, clutch cable, breather hose and the conical catch filter coming off the oil tank. Might have to do some rearranging to get everything tidied up.

Didn't appear to be much oil in the breather hose. I remember the old timed breather hose on my 750 coming off on the road and covering the left side of the engine (and my left boot) with black oil. When I told the guy in the gas station in Chattanooga I was headed to St. Louis by nighfall, he just sho0ok his head and chuckled.

well the conical filter is a fuel filter, not a breather hose, and the hose around the clutch cable and zip tied to the oil line helps keep it perpendicular to the case.

Sorry for the confusion, I was talking about mine. I have individual conical air filters on the Amals and a smaller replica on the end of the vent line coming off the oil tank. It lays on top of the air filters so any fumes can be sucked into the intake rather than toally venged to the atmosphere. Haven't had any blow-by oil there to justify a catch tank.

Not a bad idea, thanks

That's mighty green of you there, Danno. Even Jay Lenno runs his vent tube off the rear fender. I am not saying Jay is particularly green, I'm just saying you are.

Well overly done, Dan. :D
