A reliable foot brake switch supplier....
I searched/read up on the forum regarding the common fault of the rubber boot failing which happened to mine.
Has anyone found a supplier that offers a switch or a boot that offers some longevity aka not junK?

Mine has. Been fine for 4 yrs, 8k miles since I renewed original, believe it came from Walridge in Ontario but I assume they just import stuff from AN.

I first bought mine off AN. This perished quite quickly and I bought a couple via Wassells - to my eye they’re the same. It’s also the same as the new one on my T160. So, probably all made by the same place in China? Crap design though innit?

The rubber boots on mine last about 100 miles . They came from Andover or RGM . I bought several to have as spares . Done the vinyl electric tape bodge . At the suggestion of another forum member I have bought some self fusing silicone tape . Starting spring fit out next week and I will change out boot and try fusing tape - I’ll post the outcome when known. The rubber bumper for the side stand is no better so I’ll tape that as well . One word for the rubber quality - sh_t.

I got sick of replacing the switch the original lasted 35 years and have since replaced 2 new ones so decided to put something differently, I had a old pull switch from a old Honda dirt bike and mounted it on with a spring was a easy job to do took about 15 minutes to make a mounting bracket and bolt it to the top foot mount bolt with the spring in a hole off the bracket I made, works a treat, a mate gave me a spare that he had laying around so all good but can't see it will never need replacing.

About 48 years ago, a bit of wood took my stop switch and bracket off my brake pedal. I bought a Taiwanese pull switch off a Gemini M/cycle and fitted it as Ashman mentioned above.
It acts as a safety against breaking my foot brake cable as well.

Seems odd so many fails on this switch cover. Are you guys running the stop bolt too far turned in, making the switch take all the pressure from the brake lever to halt its movement. leading to over squashing of the boot? Mine barely causes any boot deflection if any at all.

Also, while on the brake lever topic, don't forget to fit the certain death preventer spring to the lever ;-)

Part of the problem is that rubber has a finite life, and there's no way of knowing how long the parts have been sat on a shelf before we get our eager hands on the goods.
The other part of the problem is the quality of the rubber, as already said.
The originals were definitely superior to what's on the market currently. I've had 'brand new' rubber components fall to pieces within 6 months, and some 'John Bull' type cable ties which just broke while being fitted

The Bevel Ducati aftermarket had seen various rubber components made available in silicone rubber, so the finite life argument goes away. Not cheap, but definitely worth it - maybe if they can be prevailed upon to embrace British stuff, which is a much bigger market?

Like Tornado said, all of the adjustments on the stop and switch position have to be correct.Mine has lasted for many years with no problems.

The adjustment bit doesn’t hold water for the side stand bumper .
The rubber is crap .

I searched for rubber conditioner and found many . Worth a go perhaps?
Silicone grease like NAPA's Sil Glyde is the rubber treatment of choice. It also serves as an electrical dielectric grease.
