This is my set up not original but works so much better, been on for years without any problems.View attachment 86179View attachment 86180
I'm used to a brake that allows some travel before the light goes on; in any case, I prefer to have some brake pedal "feel" while riding. Barring that, I have to conciously keep my foot off of the brake pedal or risk the light being on during much of the ride.
I like the concept of the switch above and may have one of these switches in my parts box, bucket, drawer or other container.

Shit Ashman. Its obvious you use your bike a lot. GOOD ON YER. Functional, but not as neat as mine. Sorry cant post picks. At least yours works. Time to clean it up though maybe. I'm one for just riding but I think mine looks a little better than that.

Sounds like you folks need a Cliff Hanger ;)

I built the 850 Commando/Featherbed back in 1980, and now its showing its age, the frame paint is old and the tank paint is also showing its age, the Norton was a everyday rider since new except for the 2 years with the convertion to the Featherbed frame, its no show pony but its a rider, the last 8 years its semi retired when I bought my new 2013 Triumph Thruxton and now my 2016 Thruxton is now my everyday rider, I still ride the Norton regularly but the last few weeks I been doing a few mods to it so really the pics is showing a lot of dust on it, but I only clean and polish the Norton usually once a year on its birthday the day I rolled it out of the show room door when I bought it new at the age of 17, it might not be the neatest bike around and it shows its well ridden and to be honest I like it like that and where ever I ride it and stop it does draw a crowd and it don't drop any oil and never has in the 46 years of ownership.
I am not a spit and polish person, I am a rider, but it be one of the best maintained Norton's around and I know every nut and bolt, built by my own hands and its very reliable, its had a lot of great upgrades to it in the last 12 years, it might not be the prettyest but it goes great and I like it the way it is.

I also forgot to say in the last post my Norton also survived a major fire way back in 82 from a back fire and a slight leak from a fuel tap, now that is a story in itself, never run velocity stacks without filters, lesson learned the hard way, nearly lost my Norton that day and I was on it when it went up and did some damage to it but had it rewired and back on the road next day except had to wait a week for the melted seat to get back from being recovered/rebuilt, rode it around with a charcoal paint job for over 2 years after the fire, man did it look like a rat bike then also melted my original speedo but the taco survived, lucky a good friend gave me a Smiths speedo off a Triumph and the melted speedo sat in my shed for a long time till about 12 years ago I got my taco rebuilt and I took the melted speedo and was luck they were able to rebuilt it with the original face it cleaned up but all the numbers glass had to be replaced.

Exactly. No "jewelry" on my bike. I spend that money GOING PLACES. Personal preference, I understand.
