Simple question and I'm sure not a simple answer. My old reliable 74 850 is always hard to start after sitting for some time. It sometimes takes 10-15 kicks but then it magically starts. I'm running Keihin carbs and Tri spark ignition. I'm using full choke on both carbs and once it starts it will run fine and then start on the first kick when warmed up. So, it has to be:

1- Ignition setting?
2- Air fuel setting?
3- jetting?
*Plugs are new.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Sky

Hard starting. Need advice

I am assuming you are using PWK carbs?

If so then the choke only works when the throttle is closed. Make sure you are not giving it throttle when kicking.

Agree with Jim, and try opening both taps you might hear air escaping if you do you've had an air lock.

I dont know why your bike is so hard to start!.
What i know is a nice bike.

I assume you are running a Boyer ignition. A low battery will result in the hard starting. Put it on charge and then try it.
