I bought a 1970 Commando and need to put normal handlebars on it replacing the cafe style ones. Does anyone know if they're 1" or 7/8" ? Any preferences for comfort? Thanks

Mine measure .875, so I'd say 7/8". Walridge has them for about $40, the US bars that is. The new ones are slightly different than the old original 'export' bars. Slightly less rise and shorter as I remember, but not much, just enough to notice if you're familiar with them.

Yes 7/8th, and the european bend seem to be the most popular these days. I have the U.S. bend which i find to be a bit wide. Cj

Here's the original 'export' bars on top and the new Walridge ones on the bike.

I'm with the western bar crowd...same as above bars. The Euro style makes the front brak master cylinder a bit cramped. Not a worry if you have a drum brake. After many years of playing with all the Commando body styles I've settled on US Roadster is the best for me which includes these bars.

Moto cross bars for me. I like the low profile and wider stretch. It's like power steering.
