Had experience with motorcycle seats from Texavina?

Long story: Working on converting a Corbin to the Interstate tank with thanks to one of our members who made this available to me. For now, I am working with a local upholstery shop but the price is dear. Matt at CNW shared his story with me about creating the beautiful examples I have seen and it is no easy task but I love a solo seat and Interstate tank for the Endurance look. The example shown above, made in Vietnam and managed in California for distribution, is tempting. If you've had experience would like to hear from you (but really, for this price I cannot possible be very choosy).

Thanks!

Not really an answer to your question as I have had no experience with the brand in question but for your consideration I have had two Corbin Gunfighters purchased new from Corbin several years apart . The first one had a nicely made seat pan - fiberglass perhaps? - and said pan had several quality control inspection stickers on it . The nose of the seat where it met the back of the tank was nicely covered in suede . The only thing I didn’t like was the upholstery down the the center of the hump was done in a spear point . A little too Harleyesque for my tastes but nice workmanship . Fast forward to a couple years ago - when finishing up a total redo of my Commando I planned on making a rigid cowl for the seat hump to be painted to match the tank . Since I never liked the point and it would have interfered with the rigid cowl plan I contacted Corbin about recovering the seat . More than half the price of a new one and by the time I paid shipping from east coast to west and back it was more than the cost of a new seat so I sold the original and ordered a new one . Big quality difference between the two . The new seat pan was made of some rough compound- likely recycled material. No quality inspection stickers evident . No more suede on the nose - just the upholstery turned over and pop riveted . The upholstered hump itself had a large dent in it . If I wasn’t going to make a rigid cowl I would have returned it . The price for the new seat was considerably more than what I paid for the original. Corbin has slipped a bit in my eyes so keep this in mind when choosing which way to go . Hope this helps .

Thank you Richard. This bike is my design specification. I have two Corbins, one, the locking Roadster-length saddle and the other, shortened version which incorporates the dual slotted tabs as the bench saddles use.

For reference, here is what Matt at CNW had to say (and for sure a tribute to his dedication):

Corbin, as you may know, doesn't make a seat for the Interstates.

I did make a batch several years back and that is when I discovered that there are quite a few versions of this Interstate tank and the size difference is enough that you can not make a seat that fits all. At that point I decided not to make them to sell outright as a direct bolt on. However, over the years I have had enough interest in that seat that I decided to offer it but it is a serious custom seat.

In order to make one, here are the details:

- I have to have your Interstate tank here at the shop. Alternatively, I can have you take some dimensions and I can work with that
- I start with a std Roadster Gunfighter seat. It is however uncovered
- The seat is fitted exactly to the actual tank (or copied dimensions) it will be used with
- When the fitting is completed, I return the seat to Corbin to be covered
- The seat can be finished in any of the materials, colors and options that Corbin offers on his site.

Due to the time it takes to fit the seat, shipping back and forth to Corbin, the finished seat does cost $819.00. This does not include shipping that seat and tank (if you sent it to me) back to you. So as you can see it's pretty involved but the end result is a really nice seat that makes the Interstate set up look quite different than stock. The comfort of the seat and body position is the same as with a std Corbin Roadster seat. It also uses the same keyed release and lock down.

Time frame is about 6+ weeks from when I start

As an option to the above, you can also buy a Roadster seat from Corbin and peel the material back in the nose. Modify to fit and then re-cover. It's pretty time consuming and the recover may be best to let an upholstery shop do but I know some guys that have taken this approach with good results

Matt did mine using the dimensions that he asked for and I am very satisfied with the results. Mike
