H-D oil cooler on my MKIII

I have a oil cooler on my '75 I recently picked up. The bike had injectors on the inlet manifolds, perhaps nitro. Is an oil cooler of any value? I live in western NY, not a hot hot spot.

Id say yes if it has a thermostat.

I'm running a cooler/thermostat combo. Have had it for 2 seasons now, and in that time have installed 2 oil pumps rebuilt by AMR. I think it's worthwhile; aside from the slight increase in oil capacity, I find that it works to lower oil temps during highway runs in hot weather riding. My "empirical" assessment is based on the readings/activity gleaned from an oil pressure warning light and the recent addition of an oil pressure gauge.

Around town, not so much. The temp rises enough to open the stat, but not enough airflow to effect change in the oil temps. Running straight 50w synthetic, but that will change in light of Comstock's recent oil tests.

Wot about stone hits on the cooler? Looks rather vulnerable.
In town hot day is when you really need it, is there a way to put
a muffin fan behind it?

A fan is a good idea-can just be switched on and off. My oil cooler has a thermostat but it's the original H-D part. The oil cooler is off a Harley.

Are you sure the holes were not the balance tubes? Nitro injection? Are you thinking Nitrous?

No nitrous please, for sure you need nitro if you seek the full big bang experience!

Not the balance tubes. I personally have no interest in Nitrous.
