I have a dual output 5 ohm Dyna coil. I have read that running a wire from the positive(black) wire to the head is a moot point. I have seen the little curly wire coming down from two coil setups. Well?

LIke chicken soup for a cold, it wouldn't hurt (but it is not needed)

Spark voltage does jump to ground or off ground the other way on too on dual coil. Spark voltage usually plenty to jump through engine mounts to reach back to battery but a rubber mounted Commando could use a more dedicated path to help out load on coil and spark.

On a dual output coil, the circuit is complete without the need for a ground to the electrical system, it could operate like that without any problems whatsoever. There are so many paths (throttle cables, clutch...) to ground even on the rubber mounted engine that a dedicated ground is not needed, adding one will not hurt.

Jean is correct in saying the circuit is complete without a ground wire. But if there were an open in the secondary circuit, such as a bad plug wire or an open resistor spark plug, a ground wire will help save the electronics. Jim

Ok Jean and Jim, ya learned me something more on Commando and dual coils, thanks, will have to ponder the paths of potentials some more.
