Greetings. My name is Ben Rohling, and my wife and I are the caretakers of a heavily modified 1973 Commando Roadster 750. Purchased from another forum member, our Norton is far from an untouched virgin and more like the woman at the end of the bar that everybody knows and for all the wrong reasons. The odd man out in a family of Harley owners, "Norty" is a beloved horse in our stable. Looking forward to absorbing the collective knowledge of this forum. Cheers

Welcome Norty.

We'd like to see what your well traveled lady looks like.

Just a piece of advice with the iPhone. Get yourself a photobucket account and the photobucket app for the iPhone makes it nice and easy to upload photos from your phone then post them here using the IMG codes photobucket provides

Hi Norty,
I'm a new boy here too, welcome.
Some good people here with good ideas.
Lot's of nice bikes.

This was the pic that led us to Norty. While we realize this is not an unmolested example, the Mrs loves it very much..... At least one person on the forum will recognize this shot.....this wasn't taken at our house

On the trailer two days ago, headed to someone who routinely deals with amal carbs

Ignore the blue bikes, they're not mine, I do own a Harley, no it's not an ape hangered monstrosity.
Please bear in mind, we did not do the modification to this bike, we just gave it a good home

" Greetings and Salutations " to my followers and Admirers . :D

RIGHT . A NORTON tank with Harley Davidson writen on it might be preferable to a Harley tank with Norton writen on it .

T.C. prefers the 16s , so a Avon / Dunlop Perilli etc might be preferable to a car tyre or ribbed thing , if youre planning on leaning into corners . :P

Part From that , Its all a Matter of TASTE . Er . . .

say , Flat Bars might help .

Be carefull what you smoke , Ive seen this happen before .

Good Grounds for a Coustom Circuit Racer . 8) some people even fit GSX R front ends to Vincents .

Personally , I learnt Jap Bits Fall Off , so prefer to Avoid Them .

However , it looks like this thing Might GO . so the Front Brake . . . at least AM4 lineings ( Race or Equivilant ) would be a start .
This might even be considered essential , unless there a considerable abscence of traffic & obstacles in Yr Neighbourhood .

Saves dentist bills from teeth ending chewing trees or auto bumpers and the like . If mine Id fit 1 7/8 dia ' S ' like pipes .
These should sound like a 36 Buick straight eight running a 4 in copper pipe exhaust pipe . Which is Really important .

Also , If Her indoors is pillion , and has incinations and pride of ownership , this means out accelearteing others , so someting to stop
said individual falling off the back wouldnt be a bad idea . Like a low sisy bar . Somewhere to tie the sleeping bag to too , though I freak out at pointy ones .
probly as side chrome on 63 EH Holdens can Impale the most carefull types slideing round the front . A design feature of these Holdens is the Bumpers spaced as a Bottle opener ,

Pays to be practicable , and youll save a fortune rather than creating another standard one , like everyone else .
Fit a 45 Weber DCOE if those Harley Boys give you any trouble . & try for a 5 speed gearset .

P.S. its Not a Ferrarri or Italian . So RED paint is INNAPROPRIATE . , o.k.

Yes--this is the first of two E-Bay choppers I picked up in Minnesota--I just replaced the seat and generally straightened out a few issues before Ben bought it for his wife on Valentine's Day last year.

Every good wish for your project--that's a cool Illinois tag--and welcome to the forum, Ben

. . . and if there are any issues with those Amals bring them back and we'll swap out the right components

Thanks Tim, you're a Godsend...... Just came back from Morrie's Place out in Ringwood, impressive place with many parts on the shelf, and quite an inventory of bikes....Tina said to thank you for the chance to be Norty's caretaker.......Cody is in the Amals this weekend, I should know where we're sitting by Sunday or Monday. Picked up a different set of bars too.... Now the search begins for shorter dogbones

Greetings and Salutations

Think we're all sorted.... Got about 50 miles in..... Eliminated the dogbones with a set of bars more pleasing to handle

Greetings and Salutations

I think this thing will take my Harley to school up until about 70.... Mama approves!!!!!
