Good Quality Perches

Can anyone suggest where to purchase decent quality clutch and brake (with air lever) perches for early Commandos?

Most of the stuff out there is terrible quality, including the originals (IMHO). Later Commandos seemed to have better stuff.

I had to piece my levers together from the few parts I had that were good and then I found through about 4 different vendors the pieces to put back together my '69 brake, clutch and the air lever. Some of the parts I got through BritBike, some from Walridge, and maybe even USA Fair Spares. I just can't remember, but it took me forever, but I did end up with a pretty good complete set of the 69/70 sets in original configuration. The complete sets are not available for those years. If you want me to look back, I have the records and will source the vendors.

I was planning to try Walridge tomorrow.

i am also planning to go to the mid-Ohio vintage bike events & swap meet next weekend where I'll keep my eyes peeled for Norton perches.

Is anyone planning to go to mid-Ohio?

Be aware if you are going to buy aftermarket levers that norton levers have a measurement of 7/8" from the centre of the pivot to the centre of the cable nipple, triumph and others are 1", i got an aftermarket set from a local dealer several years ago with a 7/8" pivot but the dealer couldnt remember where they came from. 1" sets are readily available.

My search for good Perches ran into a Brick Wall so I went with new levers (Domino) and switchboxes (Pingel).

I got a lever blade from Walridge 18/754 with the 7/8" pivot. I'm sure Mike has both sides. I got a bunch of nuts and bolts and one body, the brake that has the air lever I think from Britishonly in Michigan, but I had to hassle with them about the quality of it, the chrome was peeling, they finally sent me a good one. They had good prices though. The BA screws, some have large heads and some smaller which fit, you just have to try them. If you have the 69 Spares book, all the parts are listed and still good if you can find them.

There are probably better sets out there now, but I was going for original look.

I guess the 1" pivot would be harder to pull, but would pull longer. I never had any problems with my clutch, so I am going original at 7/8".

I got one, I believe from this seller, a year or so ago, been pleased with it. FWIW.

I love the Doherty ones... Even the replicas!!! The cheap Matador Japanese copies are not bad either! Anything better than the folded metal stock ones!
