I feel like I should have called the newspaper and tv stations locally here to announce the union of my Norton family! In 1972 my 72 Norton combat Dunstall became part of my family but after a few short years it went to stay with relatives some 500 miles away. While we were apart a 74 850 came into my life. Tragically we too were separated around 1989. All this time both Nortons had never met one another. This xmas I really pushed to for once unite my Norton family and now after 30 odd years it has finally come to pass!

Here is a photo of our union. Even though they look a little worse for wear I can't tell you how it feels to have them united under one roof.

The fairing was removed for transport.

The Dunstall tank and fairing were previously seriously crashed and although I thoroughly patched them inside and out the tank kept weeping from new areas where the fiberglass had been stressed. After meticulously patching and re-painting it 4 or 5 times I finally succumbed to adding scabby patches to the outside just so I could continue riding.

I need to insulate and heat my work area before I can begin the long healing process.

I wish I still had my Dunstall fairing. Looks like some nice bits to start with.
Since it's now raining here I've stopped my shop expansion mode but at least I have a roof over it.
I just dress warm but I bet you'll want a nice heater. How do you plan to handle that?

Actually I'm in the warmest climate in Canada but I've put too many transmissions, clutches, differentials etc. into my vehicles while working in snow banks in 30' below when I was up north and younger. Now even though it's around the freezing mark I still want some heat. I have a very small shop, 8"X20" (the clear floor space is about 5' X 10') with 7' ceiling so I'm going to seal it off and just use a small electric heater. A couple of 500 watt light bulbs will likely illuminate it as well as heat it if I'm lucky. I'll be going pretty slow on these bikes so it will likely be warm enough by the time I really get into it. Most of my tools have disappeared over the years so I'll have to tool up as I go.

Good idea,

I've worked under a lot of heaters but any with open flame can be quite dangerous around fuel. Let us know how that works out.
I might consider some kind of heating for my shack next winter, but now I still have to shingle it, finish the trim, and paint before I get there.
I will be doing the wiring next summer and if I go for electric heat I might want another breaker.

dunsTall Power Pipe. nice.

I converted it to a 2 into one I think because of the Kaufman bags I wanted to mount for some road trips. It ran just as strong that way as it did with the 2 into 1 into 2 regular set up and it saved the weight of one muffler. The one left side muffler hung a bit lower to accommodate the bags.

When I was playing with 289 Fords we found that with a single exhaust we were getting the same top end numbers and more midrange torque.
All that stuff depends on the particular engine combination, that single just might work very well for what you do.
