Anyone tried urethane rubbers in lieu of rubber ?

Seems the objective of unencumbered powerplant , the no unnecessary friction losses trip , has been left to die ? .

If there was a electro elasticity sensitive elastic substance ! a full rpm control of the disacociation of the vibration ,
or tuned to revs & temperature , might be developed .

The Rubber must be temperature affected , if you look at a 100 deg. F. temp. range ! .

The ISOLASTICS were the ESSENCE of the Commando , But the first orchastration hasnt been succeded ? .

Obviously the set back ones are the ' bump stops ' secondary . the Full diameter are the primary support . Isolation .
If you had 12.000 Kv. you could electromagnetically suspend a ' Hover Lastic " . But you dont .

Now , Hows This , for STYLE .

ONE WOULD THINK half a century on , a computer anaylisis of the Thingo would shed some new light on its Wonderous Characteristic . Even if it may look a bit funny at Idle ! .

Yes Cdo's should go silent about 2500 rpm. What allows this w/o sloppy loose isolastics is a mystery I'm always on look out for. My friend's '71 is so bad I don't care to ride it again till its calmed down below 50 mph in 4th. My deer crashed '72 would go smooth ~2500 but in some conditions would still buzz me. Never could find the key condition to reproduce buzz for idea of fault. I took tools to adjust the gap while out on the road. I had to open iso gap over factory to get relief, so I suspect front tabs are skewed and touch engine too easy. I know its engine is tipped to LH from injury but was still pretty pleasant over all.
The mount tabs ideally should be parallel but I don't know how they might be trued w/o making them worse. Skewed tabs would measure as tight on one half and open on the other. But so would the whole power unit if tipped by the rear iso mounts. Commandos are famous for a symptom or mis fit showing up in one area but the source is farther away. There is also uneven pull of drive train to twist front to LH and rear to RH.

I cheated on my Ms Peel special and ground the doughnuts thinner-softer all around so she disappeared about 2300. Maybe should only thin the front set and still get the rear stabilizing beef w/o annoyance getting though close settings.

The SIDE / Lateral and MOUNT ALIGNMENT is Crucial . the Mild Steel Norton frame is fairly soft .

A BARE FRAME ,, you throw steel rods through the Iso Mounts & check alingnment & diagonals .
so the Cap / shim faces are parrallel . Also you shim NEUTRAL . The Front Shims devided so as
the clearance is Equal each side. INSTALLED .
So you ( pre Mk III ) sett the rear . Equal Shims Ea Side ( initially ) Tightish .
Get a pry bar . wood Pref. Lever Front Left . Measue Rt. clearance .
In the opposite / Mirror - Lever Front Right . Measure L. clearance .

Start doing a bit of Aritmatic . Extra one side If needed so running. the GAP is equally devided .
If its all askew your stuffed . But if essential , From f Measurements , Throw em all one side rear
To Get Even Clearance Ea. Side FRONT also . As You lever the Aft. Both ways as well as diagonally
to see how your fish fry .

Id Found 2 1/2 Thou . clear . After All this . 2 it'd lossen off after a few rides .Maybe aft tighter'd
be safe . Whatever , they'd loosen off evenly - Past 4 1/2 I found the wander began ,
If you threw it over at 80 and were stupid enough to change into Top on the 23 T sprocket . This
put you in the ideal position of being a passenger soas you could observ the behavior . on the
edge as it were , a uncoordinated downshift mayve seen ' Exit - stage right ' And a co ordinated one at that speed , wouldve been onto the next straight .
Essentialy there was a slight lateral rock , at the knees ;) , 1 1/2 cycle , caught into the 4th so held , judisious mild throttle . Several lamposts obswerved .

Obsevation ? . Dont Do THAT Again . Read about Doddy Hay . Some people dont know when to stop .

" Vibration up to 3000 RPM - Rear tight, Front OK
Vibration 3000-5000 RPM - Front tight, Rear OK
Vibration up to 5000 RPM - Both tight"

These look like the Muffler Mounts . Nothing like having Aircraft standard Muffler Mounts !

More like this , actually , but w t h . The rubber ( Rear Spring Front Bush used ) unescapeable BUSH is the SIMILARITY !

Similar Era Tecnology . Of course that had no ' End shims ' as fore'n'aft was irrelevent . Essentially .

I ran alloy marine grade 3/16 top mount sideplates . Probly helped on the rock . The rock discerned ( Above )
was hard stop or firm stop , as the top rubbers , std . ( Not the AIRCRAFT GRADE ONES ( above ) if it'd help ? )
Figured the tin ones looked a bit tinny , not to mention not entirely adequate , in comparison to a P.R. job ! .:(

So , looked like these , Std exterior dimesionally .

Recomended . Simple .

SO , WHY DOSNT SOME TECHNO SNOT PULL THEIR FINGER OUT AND DO A MODERN DAY 21st CENTURY
pressure die cast , variable elastomeric , comutor controlled , hydraulicly damped , stamped out by the million
version of the FIVE TIMES motorcycle off the year , wonder drive .

What Other Isolation developments have occured thatd be of use in a modernised refined ISOLASTIC powertrain suspension .

Talk About Circumlucution . THEYVE GOT URETHANE ONES .

After All , you can hardly call a NORTON a COMMANDO . Unless its got ISOLASTICS . These Fore ignors might get the Wrong Idea ! .

Probably more sense to talk to these blokes , than the Pom's . Anyway .
