Gel Coat Tank

I've been eyeing the Manx style tank for my Commando Cafe project sold through Clubman (http://clubmanracing.com/nortoncommando.php)

The tank has a gel finish... I'm not looking for a show bike, but don't want it to look cheap either. Will a gel finish look right with painted sidecovers? Does anyone have experience with gel finished bodywork and could recommend to steer towards/away from?

I have that tank in black. It looks good, but the gel coat has a kind of greyer color than a true black.

I bought one that was in red and the color matched the tail piece of my fastback very well. It had a nice gloss. I put the decals on and watched the gas pour out of the bottom. You should be very concerned about the inner coating. Clubman sells great stuff and gave me some credit for it. I ended up with an aluminum replica.
