Gearbox Spocket woes....

That's an IWIS Elite chain in AN's photo (IWIS Elite was a chain Andychain didn't recommend) so it's odd that it is too wide as the IWIS 10-B Andy sold (and presume Jason still does) isn't.

Hi Les, i need to ask AN as i don't have the box my chain came in any longer... just rechecked the invoice and the pt. number i quoted is correct
Could you please re confirm the above statement... Andy chain diddnt recommend the IWIS Elite (which according the AN photo i purchased), so how is it odd that it doesn't fit?

Yeah, I’m thinking sprocket too.

This is the kind of clearance you should have twixt sprocket and gearbox...

Dies it have the spacer installed?

Is the spocket installed correctly, with the the indent outwards?

The other potential issues are.

Bearing not fully in its housing.

Spacer is too thin.

It certainly does & was replaced at assembly
I can also see it when i look up there
I asked about the sprocket being fitted wrong way around earlier in the thread... but the replies said it cant be done

This was one of my initial thoughts and that the spacer has pulled in... but when i insert a lever between sprocket & case there is NO movement at all... it could be as stated a few moments an incorrect spacer

Isn't "Elite" stamped on the chain as it is in AN's photo?

I would have expected it to be a similar width to the IWIS chain Andy sold and which it seems to be.

Andy didn't recommend Elite because according to him it was made in China and wasn't the same quality.
"Even iwis who I believe make the best product has a plant in China for its Elite brand and I will not sell it."

This is worrying Les.... and yes my chain clearly states "Elite"
So why are AN selling them??

Because they can! There’s no law against selling Chinese shit unfortunately... in fairness though, it probably isn’t shit, it just isn’t as good as the recommended stuff.

If you want to ensure you’re buying the chain recommended by the chain man, then I’d suggest the best thing to do is to buy it from the chain man...

But we digress, we’ve already ascertained the chain isn’t your issue here...

I expect it meets the required quality standard but Andy insisted the IWIS he sold was a better quality chain.

Where and how is the chain fouling? Can you post any pics to enlighten us?
I'm going to have to investigate further... there looks to be something between the chain and casing... its not the selector shaft protruding through the case is it??

I don't think this is possible in situ, but the photo i took appears to show clearance to the casing but something else hitting the chain
Pull the master out and remove the chain and see what you see.

IT almost looks like a small battery.

Looks like a witness mark running down to the object as if it's moving with the sprocket? You didn't drop anything and couldn't find it did you?

I don't appear to be short of anything.... but who know
I'm now thinking it could be coming from inside the box itself
Oh well plenty of time to investigate on furlough
