Another question. One of our NOC members wants to have a local machinist do the oil seal mod to a batch of gearbox covers. But he doesn't know what oil seals to use or what size to have the covers bored to.

I was searching through the old posts and found Ron L's post about the kickstart oil seal he uses (no machining required). And also a mention of using quad rings for the shift shaft but no details about that. Does anyone know a part number or sizing info for the quad rings?

thanks,
Debby

Hi Debby,
I had single lip seals installed in my transmission cover:
1. Kickstart shaft, Chicago Rawhide#9815 (1.25x1.0x.125)
2. Shift shaft, Federal Mogul#340387 (5/8x13/16)
3. Gear indicator shaft, small "X"ring (just match up with old Oring)

They are installed interference fit and I left that up to the machinist.

G.B.
