I am rebuilding the gearbox on my MKII 850 and purchased NOS gears and new bushes. The bushes for two of the gears can be fitted with a gentle push of my thumb which seems too loose to me. Can anyone recommend a method to secure the bushes into the gears? Is there a loctite product you guys recommend?

loctite bearing fit would be my first guess, but not sure if its suitable in this application, you may have to turn down some oversize bushes

Some of the bushings are free in the gear.
Do not attempt to secure them or you will shorten their life.

only second gear main shaft and third gear lay shaft have floating bush. all others are press fit.
recommend you (and everybody) NOT always trust NOS parts.
parts sellers will sell as NOS, but may have been rejects that were returned to shelf. I've seen it a few times....
In 30 years I have NEVER had to ream tranny bushes and were always slip (on shaft and in gear) or press fit as original. MEASURE MEASURE MEASURE the parts, sleeve gear and first gear bushes are press fit.

If they are marked 'RS' return them to whom you bought them from.
If you buy new old stock, check it as much of it though not defective, has not been finished correctly. It should become apparent when building up, but one of the ten cylinder heads sold on ebad in Autumn 2017 the owner built it up and fitted it to the bike only to find the exhaust locking thread was wrong. Tappet tunnels on barrels is another common one, being undersize.
