It came from the battery tender pigtail between the SAE connector and the battery. Blew it when I hooked up the Heated gear for the first time. Anyone see one before?
Fuse marked "E" ?

Ha ha what an idiot I am. It was blind rage at the time. Stuck at work till 4pm yesterday and dying to do a New Years day run of some kind. Got to garage,Heat gear on and Poof!. Anyway got out for an hour so all is good.

Yet another proof that the Irish drink a lot

Happy ney year Speirmoor  (just kidding    )

Blew same fuse on my new bike yesterday in fooling around with the battery tender pigtail and the giant crocodile clips on my battery charger. Spark spark -- dead. Idiot. Mine was 7.5A and I'll be headed off to NAPA later to get one. I plan to make a little adapter for charging which will be safer and also allow plugging in a voltmeter when I get back to work next week.

You may need something like a 15A fuse or more depending on the current load of the heated gear. Also make sure the pigtail wiring is fairly heavy gauge. For battery tending there is not much current required so the wiring can be wimpy. I found these connectors with wires at All Electronics and bought a couple of each size for another project. http://www.allelectronics.com (they refer to them as weather-resistant connectors - available with 10, 14 and 18 gauge wire.) Only problem is that they are a little short - only 12" - and you will need to add a fuseholder. These are also called "toy" connectors.

I can probably make up a heavy duty pigtail if you get stuck. I was glad that there was a fuse in the line.

Good idea to have separate connectors for charging and equipment use. I ordered extra pigtails from gerbings to do the job. I could get away leaving the larger fuse in for charging but its safer replace with a 3amp. Theory is that the current is flowing in in to the battery for charging so the 3A fuse provides better protection where as with heated gear the current is flowing in the opposite direction where the rating needs to be higher
