Hi Guys, Just wanted to see if I could post some pictures of my bike.

That is a very neat job. Is it a one off or are these parts readily available?
Can you give some specifications of the injectors, pump, miles per gallon, extra performance?
What about pricing?

Well as of yet it is a one off, but production is underway. Just slower than I had hoped.
Performance is very good. Had pretty well settled on a dual throat 40 mm throttle body bolted to stock manifolds but after a year of trying I came up with the new single throttle body manifold that is making more power with a wider powerband than the dual throttle unit. Last time I did a dyno pull it showed 65.4 horse at 6500 rpm.
Milage on my 880 cc bike has been ranging from upper fourties to upper fifties depending on how I ride it. Last long trip I made with a buddy on his stock 850 with a single Mikuni I would need about 1/2 gallon less everytime we would fill up.
Injectors are 19 gph from a Ford V8. Ignition module and coil are common GM products and timing is computer controlled by the ECM. The ECM is a modified version of the BG Microsquirt and is tuned with a laptop running Megatune or one of a couple other open source programs.
The ECM is a small box that takes the place of the ignition coil bracket. The big box mounted behind the engine on my bike is a HD voltage regulator to handle the 40 amp alternator on my bike. It is not needed for the injection but I needed it for the wideband O2 and datalogging systems I use for developement and tuning. Also helps with the three HID headlights on my bike.
Fuel pump is a Keihin unit from a Honda atv.
I am hoping to be able to price the setup around $2500.00 but that is still to be determined. James

WOW! There are a LOT of special parts on that bike besides the FI

Bravo Jim and please post more pics now that you found out how to do it :)

Jean

AWESOME!

I'd love to have one of those, but at present, the outlook on $2,500 of play money is years away. Maybe by then they'll only be $1K !!!

Jim, a few questions:

1- Do you have an hydraulic clutch? Did you make it or is it a commercial product?
2- Where did you run the rocker feed?
3- What kind of improvement did you get with the heim joint on the front engine mount?
4- From what bike are the front forks off?
5- Where is the alternator mounted?
6- Can you post more detailed pictures of both sides so I can ask more questions :)

Fantastic build, and you have a good eye for looks too, I like the black head with the polished fin edges. The "fuel injection" logo on the fairing is a nice touch. I bet you can't stop anywhere without spending some time to explain everything you have done to it.

Jean

James are you going to the Colorado Rally? I would love to see the bike up close. And maybe buy you a beer and talk bikes, Cool machine sir, Chuck.

Yes I will be at the Rally, look forward to seeing you.
Here are a few more shots of my bike on the dyno. Picture quality is kinda poor with the lights and clutter. Front forks are ZX9 Kawasaki, alternator is in the stock position, Hydraulic clutch kits are nearly ready, the rocker feed line comes from the oil filter and runs up the backbone tube. The oil filter is now on the pressure side of the oil pump where it should have been in the first place. The tie rod front mount is just like a perfectly adjusted isolastic. The advantage is it stays that way.

Is the front iso just to hold the engine up?

So what's mounted on the head? Anything?

Wow, the more I look, the more I see.
Words from me don't hardly do any justice.
Nevertheless, very nice build.

Jim
Is that a removable rear sprocket on a MK III hub? One off or the "Old Brits" one?

Really incredible bike, you've brought it kicking and snortin' into the 21st century. Great job!

Scooter

Yes the front iso just holds the engine up. No washers.
The rear sprocket adapter is my own and is up for production soon.
Here is a picture of the head steady. They are due to be available soon.

And an exhaust thread repair that I do regularly. Sorry, got to advertise a little.

I see you are also feeding oil to the left side of the camshaft, Roller bearings? All I can say is stop doing this to me, I can see a new project in my future!!!!! WOW this is some really cool stuff.

It's just plain bearings on the cam. The cam is rifle drilled with a hole in each lobe.
This is what happens when you ride and work on the same bike for 28 years. Might also be a result of falling off the racebike and hitting my head once too many times. James

If that's the case I need to fall off and hit my head a few more times.

So come on out to the Co. Rally. Bring a dirtbike, I hear there are some pretty good trails in the area. We can go out and see if we can make some sore spots.

Jim,

I told you I would have more questions...

Are you using a car type alternator? Is it running at engine speed?

Did you make that exhaust too?

I see you are still young enough to kick your bike to life unless you hid the starter somewhere :) Speaking of hiding things, where did you put the fuel pump?

I like the cooling slots in the primary cover, very well done.

Jean

If Norton had you in the devlopment department, no wait a minute, they'd still be out of business.

Cookie,

You forgot to say "because these tradition entrenched administrators would have rather used a pencil than a typewriter or a typewriter than a computer". The company was not run by engineers that is for sure. That being said, they may have seen the light given this advanced example :)

Jean

Jean, The alternator is from an Excelsior Henderson. Mounted on the end of the crank. But it wasn't easy.
Yes the exhaust system is my design. Built from formulas in the "Four Stroke Tuners Manual" by Bell and Burns Stainless for the collector design. It made 8 horse more than the old 1 1/2 inch pipes with megaphones.
