Does anybody has trouble with a fresh filled gas tank which is new coated inside ? Is it a rumor or is it true that a new gas tank coating "eats" the flammable parts of the fuel, only the very first time ? The hard facts are, my bike won't start. Spark, perfect, 1/2 inch flash, compression ok, timing should be fine ( ignition and cam )fuel is there, i drained the carbs to test. It makes no backfire, no popping really nothing. The only thing that seems to be od is: i lightet the drained fuel, it really burns slow, like a whisky ( no cool "wuff" effects  ) if i removed the lighter, it stops burning !

Sounds like it's diesel fuel. Can't imagine why the coating (like Caswell's?) would harm gasoline.

Interesting! I recently coated my fiberglass tank with Caswells and it was a bear to start after that, especially when cold. It did run just fine once it started, however. My bike is well sorted and there is no reason it should not start easily. I have the bike apart now so I can't do any further testing until spring. I only ran one tankfull of gas before the tear down.

Definitly no diesel, regular pump gas with 98 octane! Well, i will drain the gas tank and add one more time fresh fuel. Next week i'll see.
The sealer/coat i used is from Kreem www.tanksiegel.com, very nice to handle.

She run's :D !!!, put in a new quarter of gas and the bike runs with the second kick ! After warming up there was black smoke coming up from the tailpipes, so i shut of the motor and inspected the carbs. The ckoke blades were e little bit open... i detected the choke cables that were slipped of the junction, because i have mounted the wiring harness and gas/choke cables with a strap to the frame   Restart with one kick, the engine is running fine and without smoke. Next time i will check the gear box, i think there is something wrong with the shifter.... we sill see.

Happy new year
