just got a new set for my '70 cmdo
fuel line question


the tank attasch points are okay .......... the spacing for the carb attach points looks proper but those fittings don't seem to be compatible with the amals

No, I think they look right. Undo the two plastic banjos from the bottom of your carbs and install the new lines.
 
They look right,,,,Don't forget the screen filter goes in the new banjo's too...........Measure the ID diameter of the new against that of the old plastic banjo's and see what you get.

thanks for the help gents. the fuel lines came without the gasket. can it be substituted with one from a hardware store that fits in the banjo?
 
If it doesn't leak it should be fine, it's just a gasket.

Sure, or an o-ring might work too.
 
a fibre washer is the go, if you use a copper one then for it to be effective you would have to tighten the bajo bolt to the extent it would probably distort or crush the banjo body, an oring would probably work if the banjo bolt was not so tight, personally I dont think I would use an o'ring , but what would I know.
 
My Trixie has factory fuel lines like this and i just put in the normal composite filter screens that fit inside the banjo and nipped up normally, which is a bit more than comfy in pot metal but not as much as copper crush sealing for dry seal. There is a compromise of tight enough to seal yet not to distort of course.

You need to flip that mirror underneath the bar so you can see something behind your left arm. Just saying.

Maybe he had it jammed into the handlebar end at one time judging from the big unplugged hole ?

I had a German teacher, Leutnant Becher, he was captured in Holland under Rommel early in the 2nd great war and spent the rest of the war and later in the US. He ended up teaching German to us enlistees at the Army Language School in Monterey, CA. Cool dude. He told us lots of war stories. They're all the same.
