i'm in the process of fettling an 850 mk2 and have turned my attention to the isolastics. The rear is still on shims but the front has a vernier adjustment. The adjuster on mine is on the left hand side of the bike (primary drive side) and in the manual it is shown on the right. Is this a problem, and should I swap it round? The mounts seem to be operating correctly with about the right clearance and the engine moves up and down when levered from below with a hammer shaft.
I'm not sure of the make of the vernier, but it looks to be plain steel and has dots of weld around the point where the boss with the adjuster holes meets the large flange.
Thanks for any help.

I can't imagine that which side the vernier is on would matter, but then I have the Hemmings adjuster on the LS, mostly because it was easier to put on and adjust there. Seems to me it would be easier to adjust on the left, but I'm not familiar with the 850 MKII. It's just clearance.

The adjuster on mine is on the right hand side (if sitting on the bike). It's the same on both of my bikes. Right hand side for the front iso and left hand side on the rear iso.

As Dave said, not sure if it makes a real difference. Someone will pipe up though.

By accident I did my first adj front iso with the adjuster on the L primary side, till I found out how hard to reach it there so now make sure it ends up on the right. Rear can best be accessed in my 750 from the L. I did not like the poor fit of the supplied adjuster probe which tended to wallow the holes so trimmed up a allen wrench that fits more secure. Its tedious but educational to carry the tools with you to diddle the gaps after various lengths of ridding while out on the road.

Spray both front and rear isos liberally and regularly with spray silicone lubricant. Keep the front rubber shrouds there in place due to high kick up dirt level but the rear shrouds, lose the rubber protectors and just spray directly . Adjuster placement configuration as per manufacturer's instructions. Shake the spraycan well before application and do not breathe in anything. Do not smoke. But your doctor told you that.
